Functional genomics of trophic interaction in symbiosis

The “Functional genomics of trophic interaction in symbiosis” topic was started in 2007. This was the culmination of bioinformatic work centered on an analysis of the transcriptome, and the acquisition of multidisciplinary skills in the genomics, biochemistry, and physiology of the pea aphid symbiosis model (Acyrthosiphon pisum) in the BF2I UMR. The core of our work on this topic is an analysis of trophic interactions in the aphid/Buchnera system.

This work started by looking at the bacterial component of the association (the genome of Buchnera was sequenced in 2000), and now also involves the eukaryote component (the genome of A. pisum was sequenced in 2007).
